Ever wonder why junk food is so cheap, despite having so many ingredients? It would seem that they require costly refining processes and complex preparation procedures. So why do these types of products cost a mere dollar a box and why are value meals called "value" meals? And the question becomes why are all health foods that contains one tenth the number of ingredients tend to cost 2 to 3 time as much. Some say it's because the added preservatives in junk food improve shelf life, so it's cheaper to keep the products on sale for longer periods of time.
That's only part of the answer. The real reason is that junk food is an effective method of industrial waste disposal. Many of those unpronounceable chemicals you see on the ingredients list are byproducts that some clever chemists have marketed to junk food. Waste is normally expensive to dispose of, but the invented demand it becomes another industry's treasure.
Even the orthodox medical industry makes billions in blood money from patients who have gotten cancer, neurological damage, and other ills from the consumption of these waste products. The low prices attract thrifty consumers.
Next time you pay for junk food, just remember that it will be paid for in 2 installments: first in cash, then in health.
93 additives go into unlabeled bakery products and 76 into soft drinks.
MSG is one of the worst food additives on the market. It's found in your local supermarket, restaurants and amazingly...in your child's school cafeteria. In fact, if you look on the labels of the products on the "Choose Sensibly" list that schools follow to give "healthier" choices; you will find it on pretty much every package.
The FDA lists the following adverse effects MSG: obesity, eye damage, headaches, fatigue, nausea, rapid heartbeat....
